Felting Needles .$5.99 |
Felting
needles are barbed needles used to interlock wool fibers. As the felting
needle is moved up and down, the barbs on the needles catch the scales
of the wool and entangle them creating a material called felt. This package
contains four different gauges of felting needles. Any n eedle felting
project can be completed with this set. The 36 gauge is used for coarse,
fast felting leaving a larger hole. The 38 triangle is for medium felting
and leaves a smaller hole. The 40 triangle is very fine and used for detailing
and sculpting. The 38 star is for finer, fast felting on smaller projects.

The
38 gauge star needle has four sides with barbs notched out. This is a
finer needle that can pull fibers from four surrounding areas, while still
leaving a smaller hole in the felted surface. It felts slower than the
larger gauge triangle needles, but the detail is finer

Triangle
Felting Needles $5.49 |
The 36 gauge triangle needle is used for faster, coarse felting. There are three sides at the bottom of this needle, each with barbs notche d out so the needle can draw fibers from three areas with each punch. This needle is a bigger gauge so it leaves a larger hole in the felte d surface. The 38 gauge triangle needle is a good general purpose needle. It is used for medium felting. It has three sides with barbs notched out bu t the size is smaller that the 36, so it leaves a smaller hole. This needle is good for attaching two felted pieces together and also for a ttaching a felted item to a wool surface. The 40 gauge triangle needle is a very fine, three sided needle with barbs on all sides. It is excellent for fine detailing and sculpting.
